Hi! I'm Stefan.

Stefan is originally from Romania, has travelled extensively both for work and pleasure, and now resides in the London area with his wife and 4 month old son!
Stefan’s most recent professional experience was with CloudFlare, a security oriented CDN, and brings with him a wide variety of experience and ideas. We are very excited to have Stefan join us and expect great things from him!
When Stefan is not working on Cloud Services initiatives, you might find him spending time with his family, working on personal technical projects, or shooting/editing photography especially outdoors. He’s not a big fan of American beers (too sweet), but you can win him over with a thick, grilled steak any day :-) - Qumu

Stefan loves to travel, especially if it involves doing 140 mph down a German autobahn. He started his career as a remote technician for a US data center while a university student in Romania—since then, he’s been on the move. Stefan has lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and his roles as support engineer and system administrator required him to crisscross Europe several times. As part of the CloudFlare team in London, he’s taking every opportunity to explore the UK. If Stefan isn’t in front of his laptop you might find him atop the Dover cliffs, or, in the unlikely event that he’s home for a weekend, grilling up a steak in his garden. - CloudFlare

Places I enjoy/enjoyed being part of.

Home Automation - heating

Home Automation

Everybody is doing some sort of home automation these days, but I believe that only the one I wrote can perfectly fit all my requirements. Currently, my v1.0 of home automation project, except handling the heating on 2 circuits, it's also telling me the Buss schedule from my closest Buss station, the weather forcast in my city and it's able to show me a live feed from my 2 security cameras installed.

Online photo and video albums. Similar to Picasa/Pictures from Google, but - i think - better and private for me :). Initially I used my own 5 nodes RIAK-CS cluster as a backend (to learn more about object storage) but gradually I moved to cloud (B2 BackBlaze, Google Cloud Storage - Nearline) because it's cheapper.

spidervps.com

Mainly I started this project to learn more things about the virtualization environments, especially XEN and KVM. Currently it's providing a place to store all my other projects... almost for free. Registration is closed since the beginning of 2015, except for friends and relatives. This project was not started to fight the big providers (AWS, Vultr, Linode, etc).

ush.ro

ush.ro

One of the biggest (if not the biggest) online forums concerning the "Spiru Haret" University from Romania. Maximum online user peak: 6,585 in February 2011. This was my launching point in webhosting business. Thanks to ush.ro I learned some basic PHP coding skills and a lot of tricks and optimization techniques for nginx/PHP/MySQL. It's running vBulletin software.
